Certificates & Provenance

Every Edition. Documented. Signed. Archived.

At Dance Artworks Gallery, a Certificate of Authenticity is not a formality — it is the foundation of the collector relationship. Each limited edition print we offer is accompanied by a dual certificate, co-signed by the artist and the gallery, establishing an unbroken chain of provenance from studio to collection.

What Every Certificate Includes

  • Artwork title and year of creation
  • Artist name and signature
  • Edition number (e.g. 3/8) and total edition size
  • Print medium — paper type, ink process, and substrate
  • Dimensions in both centimetres and inches
  • Gallery co-signature and official stamp
  • Date of issue and unique certificate reference number

Certificate Types by Commercial Line

Premium Limited Edition Prints

Dual certificate: artist-signed + gallery-countersigned. Edition sizes range from 3 to 25 copies. Once an edition is sold out, it is permanently retired — no reprints, no exceptions. The certificate travels with the artwork and constitutes its primary provenance document for resale or insurance purposes.

Licensed Photography Prints

Gallery certificate of authenticity confirming the licensed reproduction rights, print specifications, and edition details. Each print is produced under an exclusive licensing agreement with the photographer or rights holder.

Accessible Framed Prints (POD)

Gallery certificate confirming print specifications, production partner, and quality standards. These works are open editions and are not investment-grade collectibles — they are clearly labelled as such.

How We Archive Each Edition

Every edition is registered in the Dance Artworks Gallery archive at the time of production. The archive records the edition number, buyer name (where consent is given), date of sale, and production batch reference. This allows future owners to verify provenance independently by contacting the gallery directly.

Framing and Preservation

To preserve both the artwork and its certificate, we recommend:

  • Museum-grade UV-filter glazing for framed works
  • Acid-free mount and backing materials
  • Storage away from direct sunlight and humidity above 60% RH
  • Keeping the certificate in a separate archival sleeve, not mounted behind the print
