Dance Artworks Gallery / Collector care

Returns, clearly explained.

Buying art should feel considered, not complicated. Here is how to request a return, what happens when an artwork arrives damaged, and when a refund applies.

EU consumer purchases
Eligible online orders generally have a 14-day withdrawal period after delivery.
Custom specifications
Some genuinely personalised or bespoke works may be exempt under applicable law.
Damage or wrong artwork
Tell us promptly. A request to report within 48 hours does not remove your legal rights.

Which situation sounds like yours?

Changing your mind is different from receiving a damaged or incorrect artwork. The right next step depends on what happened.

01 / Change of mind

Eligible EU orders

If you are an EU consumer, you can generally withdraw from an eligible online purchase within 14 calendar days after receiving the artwork, without giving a reason.

A limited edition is not automatically exempt from this right.

02 / Made for you

Personalised artworks

A legal exception may apply to bespoke commissions, unique dimensions or individual inscriptions made to your specifications.

Choosing a standard print size or frame does not automatically make an artwork personalised.

03 / A problem on arrival

Damaged or incorrect

Contact us as soon as possible if the artwork is damaged, defective or different from what you ordered. Photos of the work and packaging are helpful.

We prefer notification within 48 hours, but this is not a legal deadline for your rights.

02 / What happens next

Three steps, without the uncertainty.

Step 01

Get in touch

Email office@idancecontemporary.gallery with your order number, artwork title, delivery date and request. If exercising an EU withdrawal right, state clearly that you wish to withdraw within the required period.

Step 02

Arrange the return

We will give you the return address and any artwork-specific packing guidance. Keep certificates and protective packaging where possible. Fragile pieces may need special transport.

Step 03

Receive a resolution

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, the remedy may be a refund, repair, replacement or another appropriate solution. We will explain what applies to your order.

Ready to request a return?

Include your order number and artwork title. If something arrived damaged or incorrect, photos help. Photos are not required to exercise an eligible change-of-mind withdrawal.

03 / Useful details

A few things to know.

Who pays return shipping?

For an eligible change-of-mind return, the customer normally pays the direct return-shipping cost unless we agree otherwise or applicable law requires a different arrangement. Damaged, defective or incorrect works are handled according to the appropriate legal remedy. For very large pieces, ask for an estimate of return transport costs before buying.

When will I receive a refund?

Where an EU withdrawal right applies, we reimburse payments due without undue delay, normally no later than 14 days after learning of your decision. Where permitted by law, we may wait until we receive the work or proof that it was sent back. Approved refunds normally return to the original payment method.

What about the original delivery charge?

Where required by law, a withdrawal refund includes the cost of the least expensive standard delivery option offered for the order. Extra charges for upgraded delivery may not be refundable.

What if I live outside the EU?

If you wish to request a change-of-mind return for an order delivered outside the EU, contact us within 14 days of delivery. Eligibility depends on the individual work, the agreed terms and mandatory rights in your jurisdiction.

Are business and hospitality orders different?

Consumer withdrawal rules generally do not apply to purchases made in the course of business. Trade orders follow the agreed commercial terms and any applicable mandatory law.

Where are the complete legal terms?

Read the full published refund policy below, displayed directly from the policy maintained in Shopify. The summary above does not replace it.

Refund & Return Policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

Dance Artworks Gallery offers fine-art prints, limited editions, original works and selected customized artworks. This policy applies to consumer purchases and does not limit any mandatory rights available under applicable law.

1. EU right of withdrawal

For qualifying distance purchases by consumers in the European Union, you may withdraw from an eligible purchase within 14 calendar days of receiving the artwork, without giving a reason.

To exercise this right, contact office@idancecontemporary.gallery within the 14-day period with your order number, the artwork concerned and a clear statement that you wish to withdraw from the purchase.

2. Customized and personalized artworks

The right of withdrawal may not apply to goods made to your specifications or clearly personalized, where permitted by applicable law.

This can include bespoke commissions, custom dimensions, personalized inscriptions or framing produced specifically to your individual instructions.

Selecting a standard option offered as part of the normal product configuration does not automatically make an item personalized.

Limited-edition status alone does not automatically remove a statutory right of withdrawal.

3. Returns outside the European Union

For orders delivered outside the European Union, change-of-mind return rights depend on the applicable law and the terms confirmed for the individual artwork.

Contact us within 14 days of delivery if you wish to request a return.

Nothing in this section limits mandatory consumer rights in your jurisdiction.

4. Condition of returned artworks

Please handle an artwork only as reasonably necessary to inspect its nature, characteristics and condition.

Returned works should include their original protective packaging and any certificates or documentation supplied with the order.

You may be responsible for diminished value caused by handling beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the artwork.

5. How to arrange a return

Do not send an artwork back before contacting the gallery.

Fine-art returns may require specific packing or transport arrangements.

Email office@idancecontemporary.gallery with:

  • your order number

  • the artwork concerned

  • the delivery date

  • your return request

We will provide the appropriate return address and any artwork-specific transport or packaging instructions.

6. Return shipping costs

For an eligible change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the artwork unless we agree otherwise or applicable law requires a different arrangement.

For large or fragile works that cannot normally be returned by standard post, contact us before purchase if you require an estimate of potential return transportation costs.

If an artwork is defective, damaged in transit or incorrect, we will arrange the appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.

7. Damaged, defective or incorrect artworks

Please inspect your order when it arrives.

If an artwork appears damaged, defective or different from what you ordered, contact us as soon as possible, preferably within 48 hours, and provide photographs of the artwork and packaging.

This requested reporting period does not reduce any mandatory legal rights.

Depending on the circumstances, the appropriate remedy may include repair, replacement, refund or another solution required by applicable law.

8. Refunds

Where a valid right of withdrawal applies, we will reimburse payments due under applicable law without undue delay and normally no later than 14 days after we are informed of your decision to withdraw.

Where permitted by law, we may wait until the returned artwork has been received or you provide evidence that it has been sent back.

Where legally required, reimbursement includes the cost of the least expensive standard delivery method offered for the original order. Additional delivery upgrades selected by the customer are not necessarily refundable.

Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible.

9. Business purchases

Consumer withdrawal rights generally do not apply to purchases made in the course of business.

B2B purchases are governed by the agreed commercial terms and applicable mandatory law.
