Biography

Francisco Estevez is a Denver-based dance and portrait photographer, teacher and former principal dancer. Born in Quito, Ecuador, he trained at the School of American Ballet and performed with Boston Ballet, Barcelona Ballet and Colorado Ballet. Today, he brings an embodied understanding of ballet into his photographic practice as lead photographer and owner of Candidly Created Studios.

Practice

Estevez photographs movement from inside the physical logic of dance. Timing, line, weight, partnering and performance quality shape his approach, allowing the camera to respond to the body as a moving structure rather than treating dance as a decorative pose.
