Simon Carter

Simon Carter is a British fine art photographer whose practice focuses on dance and movement. Working with silver gelatin and C-Type photographic processes, he creates images of exceptional tonal depth and precision. His work captures the expressive range of the dancer’s body — from the formal geometry of classical technique to the raw energy of contemporary movement. All prints are produced in the UK.

Carter frames the dancer’s body as a formal system — each image a study in the geometry of movement, the body as a sign that contains within it the sum of all its training and expression. His Greek Letter series treats the dancer as notation: precise, total, irreducible.
