A limited edition is an artwork produced within a predetermined, finite edition. At Dance Artworks Gallery, the exact edition size, edition number and any artist proofs are stated on the individual artwork page whenever they are confirmed for that work.
How to read an edition number
An edition marked 5/7 identifies that work as number five within a numbered edition of seven. Artist proofs, when they form part of the edition structure, are recorded separately and stated explicitly.
What a limited edition means
Edition information documents the finite structure and scarcity of a work. It does not imply that every work has the same edition size, documentation or presentation, and it should not be understood as a promise of future financial value.
Documentation and provenance
Documentation varies by artwork. Where a Certificate of Authenticity, artist signature, gallery documentation or other provenance material is included, the artwork page states it specifically. Limited-edition status alone should not be read as a guarantee of a particular certificate format.
The artwork page is the primary record
For each work, the product page is the primary source for medium, dimensions, edition structure, presentation and current fulfillment information. If any detail needs clarification before acquisition, Dance Artworks Gallery can verify it directly.
