Francisco Estevez
Francisco Estevez is a dancer and fine art photographer whose practice dissolves the boundary between subject and medium. Working at the intersection of dance, body, and visual art, he transforms the dancer’s body into both instrument and image — a collaborator, not a subject. His Mehron Figures series, in which dancers are painted with Mehron body paint before being photographed, treats pigment as choreography and the resulting image as a unified act of creation.
Estevez works from the inside out — as a dancer who photographs, not a photographer who photographs dancers. The body in his images is never observed from a distance. It is a collaborator. The paint, the light, the frame: all negotiated in the same moment the movement occurs.
Estevez is the gallery’s most prolific open edition artist — over 30 works across Mehron Figures, Dancer, Cloud, and Portrait series. As a dancer who photographs, his images carry an interior knowledge of the body that is rare in dance photography. Entry point for new collectors at €35; large-format works reach €150.
