Biography

Dimitry Roulland is a Toulouse-based photographer specializing in movement and body arts. For more than a decade he has photographed dancers, gymnasts, artists and pole-dance practitioners in natural and urban environments, building images around the alignment of gesture, light and space.

Practice

Roulland places movement in dialogue with environment. Rather than treating landscape or architecture as passive backdrops, he uses space, light and gesture together to create images where the body and its surroundings carry equal visual weight.

Curator's note

Roulland’s work brings an outdoor and site-responsive vocabulary to Dance Artworks Gallery. The strongest distinction is not Paris as a location, but the relationship between moving bodies and natural or urban space.
