Biography

Marc Feld is a visual artist whose CIRCUS series begins with performers photographed in action and is then transformed through digital intervention and paint. The resulting works occupy a space between photography and painterly construction, holding movement between recognizable presence and abstraction.

Practice

Feld uses the photographed gesture as raw material. By reworking action photographs digitally and with paint, he allows movement, color and surface to displace straightforward documentation.

Curator's note

Feld’s CIRCUS series is independently matched to the Guinean artists of the Baobab Circus. The series gives the gallery a credible mixed-media bridge between performance photography and painterly intervention.
