Artwork Of The Day

Premium Dance Photography Print

Each day we spotlight a dance photograph where motion holds its breath - sculptural lines, precise light, and archivable depth on Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper.

The nude figure study has one of the longest histories in Western art — from the marble kouroi of ancient Greece to the charcoal drawings of Degas, the standing or posed nude has served as the primary vehicle for understanding the body as form. Side View of Nude Woman works within this tradition and extends it into the language of fine art dance photography.

The image is a profile. The figure stands in stillness — or in the composed stillness that follows movement, the kind of quiet that a trained body holds differently from an untrained one. The side view is the most architectural of angles: it reveals the spine’s curve, the relationship between shoulder and hip, the way weight distributes through the standing leg. Nothing is concealed. Nothing is dramatised. The body is simply present, and the photograph records that presence with precision and restraint.

Shot in monochrome, the image removes the distraction of colour and asks the viewer to attend to form alone — to the gradients of light across skin, to the silhouette’s edge against a neutral ground, to the quality of stillness in the pose. It is an image that belongs to the tradition of figure study as much as to the tradition of dance photography, and it holds both with equal authority.

Production & Materials

Printed on Hahnemühle Museum-Quality Photo Rag, the matte surface preserves the tonal depth of the monochrome image — the soft gradients of skin, the clarity of the silhouette, the quiet of the ground. Available as a print-only edition with a 1″ white border, or framed with a white mount. Each work is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from Dance Artworks Gallery.
